We did exactly the same thing. Added a topper then the bed would not stay up.. we added :

(2)20” #120 lb. struts
camping world p/n 49810

Very easy fix. About a month later the steel ball that mounts to the bed frame bent the metal bracket. After adding 2 more bolts to both sides, it stays in place now.
