Van, Let me mention that there is a great bike trail that rus all the way around Jekyll Island, if you and DW enjoy bicycle riding. It's about 22 miles long. We break it up and ride it over two days. Anyway there is a lot of history right her on the island that dates all the way back to the mid 1500's, with some of the old ruins still standing. The main Historic District has several home that were owned and occupied around 1900. Also, the Georgia Sea Turtle Center is located here, and is very interesting. Brunswick, Ga is just a few minutes drive, loads of shopping and dining. Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, is about 1-1/2 hrs. away. Jacksonville, Fl, is about an hour south of here. I guess it all depends on what you are looking to do, and how far you wish to drive. I hope this helps you out some. We enjoy just getting away, riding the bikes, walking on the beach and relaxing...Joe
