My slides do the same. The smallest lightest (bedroom) slide always goes first.

Is it as it appears in your picture that there are two separate relays connected by a buss bar? As far as the interlock I mentioned, in my working years we used many reversing motor starters. They were essentially two relays that had a mechanical link between the opening relay and the closing relay to prevent both actuating at the same time.
