I must have one really odd Montana based on these recent posts with difficulties on faucet swaps. It required some major twisting and turning, using a lot of pillows so I could lay on my back and look up, but my faucet swap took a total of about 20-30 minutes when I did it last November. Removal from the counter top was done with a plain old channel lock set of pliers. Now granted, they had to get a bite on the fastening nut in an orientation that was parallel to the counter-top (3400) and I could only get about an eighth of a turn at a time, but after a couple of rotations, it came off by hand. Installation of the new faucet was merely a reverse procedure from the above. Hope this helps.
