Just an update. I slit the tape, removed screws and countersunk each screw hole. I used a steel counter sink. Reinstalled the screws. Cleaned the old tape with lacquer thinner and installed a strip of tape the full length of the slide over the screws. I cut the two inch eternabond tape in half to save some tape. I also wraped the tape over the ends. The screws are now flush with the aluminum strip and will not protrude again. I had to do the same procedure to all four slides. All is good now. All because Montana didn't want to counter sink the screws.
