I'm cool this morning. Problem resolved. Something wrong with the thermostat. When the thermostat is set to slow fan speed and the temp is reached a signal is sent to stop the compressor and the fan but then no signal is sent to restart the system when the temp rises. This only happens with the fan set to slow speed. If I set the fan to high speed it shuts down and then restarts when needed. I'm good to go as long as I run the fan on high speed. Add the thermostat to the list of things to be fixed when we go in for service. Thanks for all the replies.
