I don't think I'm wrong on this, but could be. Me thinks Ford has added a true exhaust brake in addition to having the variable vane braking via the turbo. This should be a result of the Ram trucks stepping up the game with their equivalent of a "jake" brake with the new engine design change. Switch on, lift foot off pedal and computer closes down exhaust vane and downshifts tranny...no touching of brake pedal required. Even the aftermarket folks now offer a true exhaust brake system for the later model fords. Having had it on my diesel pusher, I sure do lust after one for my 2012 Ford. John
