Our dogs are well behaved as far as damaging anything, but can be very loud. With that in mind, the first time we took them with us, I told the lady in charge at the campground that we were leaving them in the trailer alone, but gave her my cell phone, should they start carrying on. A couple hours later, we returned and one of the workers came out and told me in very stern terms if we left them alone again, we would be thrown out of the camp grounds. I marched him inside and told him to ask the lady behind the counter what I told her and asked why I hadn't been called. Seems she forgot to tell the workers there to call us.
Since then, we don't leave them alone unless we're in a parking lot at a restaurant, in which case they act as a great theft deterrent.
