We recently stayed at the Escapees Park The Ranch in Lakewood just south of Artesia. We were headed over to the Deming Rally. We wanted to take highway 82, but the couple we were with wanted to go take the by pass around El Paso. Everyone at The Ranch said they preferred to take the Artesia/Alamogordo route. I was concerned because of our height but they said no problems. Of course a lot depends on the weather conditions.
