The "cheater" boxes may work ok in older non-GFCI equipped electrical systems, but if the pedestal has a GFCI plug it will kick out with the cheater box. I have one and this has been the case on every GFCI equipped pedestal that I have tried to use the box on. This season I will sell it the rally yard sale.
