Most likely this guy is in to antique trucks. So the truck came before the 5th wheel not because he felt he needed more truck for his trailer. If you ever see photos of antique truck shows it is not unusual to see them pulling a small 5th wheel or bumper pull RV.

I added 6' of frame to the original frame of the truck. The air ride hitch is installed as far back as I could install it. I get zero trailer sway. I can drive in a strong cross wind and barley notice (except for fuel consumption). Keep in mind my truck weighed 18k# before I built the bed (all 1/2" plate & 4" C channels) or load the Jeep. The hitch that far back also provides a better pivot point for backing in to tight spots. Also the trailer follows the path of the truck closer and does not cut corners as tight.
