Michael, it is the 'business' of an electric heater, it slides into the cavity of an air handler. All that Black stuff is the result of a 50 amp melt down. the little relay melted and the plastic and ozone stuck to the bright colored metal of the insert. It's supposed to look bright like the upper front right of the insert.
