Thanks Wayne.. We have our VFW and American Legion cards at the ready. We served at a time when being in uniform was respected . When attending a school at Fort Monmouth, NJ I well remember that along Times Sq there was never a cover charge for the Military and in many places the drinks were free. At Jack Dempsey's resurant on Times Square all Militray were invited in and the first couple of drinks were free..same at the Mae West Review.( does that date me or What) Great Soldiers and Sailors club not to far from Times Sq that had first rate entertainment..any one could drop in.I do not remember ever paying for a taxi when in Uniform..your money was no good.
