Having had multiple skeletal type surgeries in the past few years, I believe you'll come through fine. There have been so many advances in the technology that really overcome all the "horror stories" you might hear. Sure, there may be some who don't have great results but I've found that if you do the rehab required you'll likely regain full range of motion again. Look at it positively.
