I'm gonna take a guess here that the black plastic was a temporary plug in the water heater inlet or outlet that some fool poked in the tank when attempting to remove it. That's about par for the workmanship I see in these rigs.
OZZ, I've got all kind of parts I have removed. Never know when you're gonna need 'em. In fact, back at the stick house, the barn is crammed full of things like that.
