It is possible to develop a fuel leak on the 7.3 if the filter and o rings are not changed as scheduled, 15000 miles. This past week I could smell diesel fuel and upon checking it was leaking from the top of the fuel filter. This fuel filter had been in the truck about 12000 miles.
After replacing the filter with the new o ring and cap no more leak.
