I believe it is the connection to the hard plumbing lines that is causing the noise. Mine was making an awful racket, so I replaced the pump with a high quality model and it made no difference at all.
I then went up to the hardware store and bought some flexible sink lines and adapters. All they had were three footers, so I made two loops instead of one. Then I put a piece of foam under the pump instead of it being mounted through the rubber grommets to the floor.
When I turned it on, I had to strain the hear the noise. The noise of the water hitting the sink completely drowned it out.
