Brad - Slow and eeeaaasssyyyy. I try to put both hands to raise the shade at each end if possible. First I raise just the night portion, then I raise the day shades. The other thing to watch for is make sure you keep them level as you are raising them. When lowering, lower the day shade first, then lower the night shades. Same process, keep hands at both ends and keep it level as you go down.
