Maybe it's not as bad as I thought it to be.

If it's not a fitting, the chrome shaft could have a small nick in it or the seals could have been dry from lack of operation. Extend the jack and feel the shaft. If you feel a scar take some super fine wet cloth sand paper to it. I cant remember whats it's called.......age.... I googled it! Emery cloth!
