Most likely nothing to do with the pump. Take the cone tipped washer out of the winterize port and turn it around, the tip pushes the check valve open and the pump will draw the pink stuff. The pump can't pull the check valve open. Just remember to flip the cone washer back after winterizing so the check valve works.
