To shape it is really no problem - just adds a little time to drag out a die grinderand make a few slivers.
The problems with EMT is the weight and the zinc coating that needs to be well cleaned and possibly scuffed to provide 'tooth' for the paint. But, 1/2 or 3/4 inch is for sure in my metals pile ....
As far as SS fasteners - got pounds of them left over from a couple ground up car builds (but probably none the right lengths)
