I said the same thing to the wife about the towel rack. Lol
Never really investigated doing it on the inside I'm sure that would be way more complicated.
Even if you could do that you would still have to grasp one of the two handles.
I can gently pull anywhere on that bar with my pinky and the door will open.
I was actually amazed and how easy it was the first time I opened it
