I had an 05 6.0 that I too bought new and just recently traded at a little less then 125,000 miles. Truck was in near mint condition and meticulously maintained. Was wreckered in twice along with 5er. Once at about 80,000 mi due to burst EGR cooler and then again at about 122,000 mi due to a small valve in fuel injection system. A couple of thousand miles latter it started to exhibit the same symptoms as it did before the EGR cooler failed. Hated to give up on the truck, but by then we had already lost faith in the truck and coupled with a possible expensive repair looming I decided to trade for a very low mileage 2017 Chevy 3500 SRW. The comfort of not fearing another break down alone made the purchase worthwhile, let alone the VASTLY improved power and comfort. There are some reports of the 6.0 going 2 or 3 hundred thousand miles, but those are the exception. Seems like a crap shoot. If our preference wasn't camping in the mountains I would probably have paid the 10 grand to have it builit proofed, but every time I pulled a long steep grade I felt like I was pushing the engine beyond it's capabilities. Towed at 65 to 70 like a dream on most roads though. Hated to see it go!
