Hello fellow Ohioan.
First, do not use dish washing soap as it may affect the RV's finish.
Second, do not use bleach as it will react with the aluminum awning arms.
Get a long handled, relatively soft, brush and a step stool. Use a good awning cleaner (I actually use car wash soap) and be prepared to get wet.
Give the awning a good soaping and a good rinse then let air dry. If your awning has a lot of mold (your awning is not molding it's the dirt that's attracting the mold), give it a good soaping then roll up the awning for about 30 minutes. Re-extend the awning, give it a good scrub then rinse and air dry.
Don't forget to rinse off the side of the RV.
Anyway, that's what I do.
