100lb Propane Tank Connectors!

Why can't the RV manufacturers make "universal" propane connectors and adapters, so that you can hook up a 100lb tank without driving all around the universe looking for connectors? I have a 2006 3500RL and the street side regulator takes a different connection and the curb side takes a totally different connection. I have the tanks hooked up, but I had to vent somewhere on how much trouble it is just to find the right connections. I went to three RV dealers, Lowes, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Propane Company, True Hardware, Campground Store and finally found a part at a small RV dealer that just cost $1.09. Couldn't believe I wasted all that gas for something that cost only $1.09 My question to any full-timers....how difficult was it for you to hook up 100lb propane tanks? Allison
