We're in Kansas and the thread came from Texas so they'll freeze up in a minute on low in the humidity we have with our 100 degree heat.

I'd take it to the dealer. Your ducts may be collapsed and, if they know what they are doing, the fix is easy. Both of ours done in a couple of hours.
