Switch the fan setting to high and then turn on the ac. Fan will run continuously the ac condenser will cycle as needed. It will also keep the fina from freezing up.

Sounds to me like a bad ground issue. Seen the same type of behavior with a bad ground. Problem is it could be on the trailer side or on the plug side on the truck.

You need the brass ferrel that goes around the tubing. It is a compression fitting. It will leak or keep coming out without it. Any hardware store will have them.
