Had solar on the old rig with six 6v AGM batteries. New rig has two 12v AGM batteries. With the sealed batteries there is no need for a box.

Our problem is heat in the summer first. We've used rigid foam to insulate the back of all our cabinets and to a certain extent the basement. Helps with the cold also.

I carry a rool of Eternabond tape and two tubes of Dicore for needed repairs. We're on our second Montana and haven't had to use them yet, but it's good to be prepared.

On our old rig I just put a piece of plywood over that area and then six AGM golf cart batteries on it to support our solar system. Never a problem in about 60,000 miles on some pretty rough roads.
