Dodge makes the problem worse by putting the DEF in the same place as the fuel and only the DEF has a cap. The fuel only has a spring loaded door.

I agree. Air bags are for leveling the ride. MorRyde pinbox and a tight hitch, in my case a Pullrite, will minimise the chucking.
