Tailgates aren't permanent, I use the stock tailgate when I'm not towing and a 5th-wheel tailgate when I am towing. Takes all of 30 seconds to take one off and put the other one on....

Keep in mind that 50 amp service is actually 100 amps total - 50 amps on each leg. So 50 amp service can theoretically run up to 6 AC's just fine assuming a running current of 13 amps for each AC...

Mine did the exact same thing, I couldn't get the cylinder back in properly either so I just replaced the entire latch assembly. Cost about $40 at Tweety's.
